Mission NarrativeMission No. 182Date - February 03, 1945 Target - Berlin [CL Ypres, Belgium] USA ON Feb 3rd, 1944 the 8th Air Force dispatched 2000 bombers to attack communication, and government targets in Berlin. The 457th was led by Col Rogner and our target was the marshalling yards near the center of the city. The target area was CAVU and bombing was done visually with Squadrons in trail. Bomb results were very good with some direct hits on the target. Flak was accurate as usual and nine planes suffered damage. One of the planes 43-38594, piloted by Lt Craig Greason crash landed near Ypres, Belgium. Plane, s/n 43-38594, named "Lady Be Good," and piloted by Lt Craig P. Greason, was hit by flak and elected to land near Ypres, Belgium. None of the crew were injured and all returned to Glatton. |
