Mission NarrativeMission No. 209Date - March 14, 1945 Target - Lohne - Cr in France On March 14th, 1945 the 457th targeted the railroad junction and marshalling yard at Lohne, Germany. Assembly was accomplished without difficulty and the run on the target was visual. Ground haze and smoke from bombing by previous groups obscured the target so bombing was done on the marshalling yards by triangulation. Results were fair to good. Flak was moderate but five aircraft sustained damage. Plane s/n 42-32101,named "El Lobo II," and piloted by Lt Donald L.l Snow was disabled by flak over the target at Lohne, Germany. They managed to keep the plane aloft and landed in friendly terrority in France and were returned to Glatton. |
