The three photos are in sequence and show the effects of previous bombing such that the 457th reported the target obscured by bombings from previous groups.

This mission was to bomb and airfield near Nancy, France that was used by the Germans as a base for flying personnel between France and Germany and as a training field for glider and fighter pilots.

This was Group Mission #26 to Schweinfurt, Germany on Apr 13th, 1944. This photo shows a cluster of incendiary bombs dropping on an already smoking section of the city. The target was the Keigelfischer ball bearing works. The group was attacked by swarms of fighters but suffered no losses. The Eighth Air Force lost 38 bombers on this raid.
