If you notice, Ken and his crew are posed in front of a B-24 at Tuscon AZ in Sept 1944. They were trained as a crew in B-24's but when they got overseas they were mistakenly assigned to the 457th along with three other B-24 crews. Col, Rogner gave them the opportunity to relocate to a B-24 base or to stay and be checked out in B-17's. They all chose to stay and completed their tours in B-17's. The four crews were: Ken Blakegrough - 750th, Fred Smithson - 748th, Jesse Castanias - 749th, and George Bane - 751st.
